Blocked Drains
in Paarl

Blocked drains in Paarl come in two kinds: the one-off, and the ones that keep coming back, usually tree roots deep in an old clay sewer line, common under Paarl’s oak-lined heritage streets. We jet the drain clear, send a CCTV camera down the line to see what is really going on, and leave your home spotless.

Report a Blockage

Tell us what is blocked and roughly where, and we will phone you straight back with a clear, upfront price before we bring the jetter out.

Blockages We Clear

Whether it is a single slow basin or a whole sewer line surcharging into the yard, we bring the jetting and CCTV gear to fix the cause, not just clear enough to get you off the phone.

Blocked Toilets

A pan that rises instead of flushing usually means the blockage sits downstream, we clear it and leave the bathroom clean behind us.

Sinks & Basins

Kitchen wastes packed with congealed fat, and basins that gurgle and drain slow, flushed out and running freely again.

Slow Showers

Water pooling at your feet is often ageing, undersized drainage in an older Paarl complex rather than one clog, we work out which it is.

Outside Drains & Gullies

When the Boland winter rain arrives, yard gullies and outside drains surcharge, we clear them before the water reaches your doorstep.

Sewer Lines & Manholes

Main sewer runs and manholes that have surcharged, jetted clear right back to the municipal connection.

Recurring Blockages

A drain that keeps blocking, month after month, gets a CCTV camera down the line so we can name the real cause instead of guessing.

What Keeps Blocking Paarl’s Drains

The single most common cause we find under Paarl’s older suburbs is tree roots. Along the oak-lined heritage streets of Courtrai, Lemoenkloof and Klein Nederburg, mature trees sit almost on top of clay and earthenware sewer lines laid generations ago. The roots chase the moisture, prise into the joints and knit into a mat that chokes the pipe, and can crack or collapse it altogether. That is why a plunger or a bottle of cleaner never holds: the fault is metres down the line, not in the trap. We put a CCTV camera into the pipe, pinpoint the spot, and jet the roots out.

Winter changes what rings the phone. From June to August the Boland gets sustained rain and hard cold fronts, and the stormwater and yard gullies through the Berg River valley simply cannot take it all. Outside-drain and gully backups spike, and they hit hardest on the low-lying plots near the river where the water table already sits high. If your yard floods every time a front comes through, the gully or its connection usually wants clearing before the season, not during it.

Two other patterns are distinctly local. The older apartment blocks and complexes near the CBD run on ageing, undersized internal drainage, so residents live with chronically slow showers and basins that no amount of plunging fixes. Out on the wine farms, smallholdings, estates and guesthouses around town, long private drain runs and busy guest bathrooms throw up their own blockages. Whatever the setting, one thing holds true: caustic soda and harsh chemical drain cleaners can eat into old plastic or metal pipework and still leave the blockage sitting there. High-pressure jetting clears it properly, and a CCTV inspection tells you whether it was a once-off or a pipe that needs a real repair.

Where we work

We run out of a base near Virgin Active in Lemoenkloof, so we are quick across Paarl itself, Courtrai, Klein Nederburg, Charleston Hill and Groenvlei, and out to Wellington, Windmeul, Mbekweni and Klapmuts. We also cover the estates from Boschenmeer and Pearl Valley to Val de Vie, and reach Simondium, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch.

Blocked Drains In Paarl FAQs

The questions Paarl homeowners ask us most when a drain keeps giving trouble.

Why does my drain keep blocking?

If a drain blocks over and over in the same place, the cause is usually below ground rather than in the trap, most often tree roots that have grown into a joint in an old clay or earthenware sewer line. Clearing the surface symptom never holds, because the real fault is metres down the pipe. We put a CCTV camera into the line to find the exact spot, jet the roots out, and tell you whether it needs a spot repair.

Do you use a camera to find the real cause?

Yes. For any recurring or serious blockage we run a CCTV drain camera down the line so we can see roots, cracks, a collapse or a bellied pipe with our own eyes. It means we fix the actual cause instead of charging you to guess, and you get a clear picture of what is going on underground.

My yard floods and the gully backs up when it rains, can you help?

That is one of our most common winter call-outs in Paarl. Heavy Boland rain from June to August overwhelms yard gullies and stormwater, and low-lying plots near the Berg River get it worst. We clear and jet the gully and its connection so the water drains away instead of pooling, best sorted before the wet season rather than in the middle of a downpour.

Is chemical drain cleaner safe for my pipes?

We would steer you away from it. Caustic soda and harsh supermarket drain cleaners can corrode older plastic and metal pipework, and they rarely shift a proper blockage, you are left with a damaged pipe and a drain that is still blocked. High-pressure jetting clears it without harming the pipe, and a camera confirms the pipe is sound.
